The thing that partly worries me with the D3300 is Digicamcontrol only supports where SDK is avilable for the camera so this might be a deciding factor. Autofocus in live view is, as you have experience, very slow and not suitable for anything that's moving. I would be looking for a camera for eveything use otherwise I would go for Canon for the mods avaiable (I did low level repair as a job so componet level so this doesnt scare me). Live view is not really how the cameras were designed to be used. The answer is, a DSLR is designed to work through the viewfinder, where autofocus is fast and accurate. I`m thinking of sending it back, unless I can find an answer. I`ve also found various people with the same problem, one had a 5200 with the problem but then compared it to a friends 5100 & found it had no lag.I bought this camera from expedited electronics, though wish i had`nt now.it was 280, which is a good price but i`ve heard some bad reports about them.though trust pilot has about 85% positive reviews for them. I found an old chat on here it seems the Exposure Delay Mode is causing a similar problem but the d3300 doesnt have this function that I can find Hi, I recently bought a nikon 3300, it works fine with the viewfinder, but for liveview is SUPER lagged, it takes 3 seconds to take a photo using liveview in any mode in the daylight,in bad light its 6 s not the shutter speed.
